North Dean Engineering have recently supplied a 5.5M x 2.2M 3-Deck Vibrating Screen to a Leading Quarrying Operator in Derbyshire. The new screen replaces the existing Bergeard Selector Screen which endured constraint bearing trouble and deck frame failure.
Following an initial meeting where issues were addressed for better access to the bottom deck for media change including a review of the steel panel sizes on the top and middle decks. The client also required safe access on the screen basket for media changes, plus a reduced routine of manual maintenance.
To provide a new solution for the bottom deck media, which was woven wire mesh on a centre and side clamp arrangement, meaning it was very time consuming to change. North Dean Engineering’s proposal was to raise the middle deck to allow for increased access to the bottom deck and introduce polyurethane panel type media. The top and middle deck to comprise of steel media which would be half the size for easier manual handling. Plus the supply of a set of access stairs to allow direct access onto the screen, which would run over the top of the front discharge chase. Also, the addition of an auto grease lubrication system was given to reduce the routine manual greasing.
The screen was successfully installed between the Christmas and New Year period of 2016 to reduce any impact on production.
